Wire Grid Polarizers
Specac Wire Grid Polarizers are suitable for infrared polarizer and terahertz polarizer applications. Two types of wire grid polarizer are available: either a substrate-based holographic wire grid infrared polarizer, or a free-standing wire grid polarizer. Holographic wire grid polarizers are used predominantly for infrared applications and are available on CaF2, BaF2, KRS-5, ZnSe, and Ge substrates as standard. Free-standing wire grid polarizers are typically used for far-infrared and terahertz applications. In many instances, Specac wire grid polarizers are used as infrared or terahertz polarizing beamsplitters.

Infrared Polarizers
Holographic infrared wire grid polarizers are available from Specac for use in the IR range from 2 - 30 μm (or 5000 - 333 cm^-1). These polarizers consist of a wire grid polarizer structure photolithographically imprinted in a photoresist layer on an infrared transmitting substrate such as calcium flouride (CaF2), barium flouride (BaF2), zinc selenide (ZnSe), germanium (Ge), or thallium bromoiodide (KRS-5) .
Far-IR and Terahertz Polarizers
A range of free-standing wire grid polarizers for far-infrared and terahertz polarizer and polarizing beamsplitter applications. These are fabricated with either 5 or 10 micron diameter wire, and are available on aluminium, stainless steel, or invar frames as standard. Both ambient temperature and cryogenic versions of free-standing wire grid polarizer are available.
Polarizer Rotators and Holders
FTIR spectroscopy and laboratory physics polarizer rotators are available for Specac holographic wire grid polarizers. These rotators allow the polarizer to be oriented in the optical path to align the polarizer along a particular polarization axis, and have mounting options for FTIR instruments, FTIR accessories, or optical physics benches.
