Autumn 2009 - 09/11/2009

Welcome to the Autumn 2009 Specac Newsletter.

As you are probably aware, Specac manufactures and stocks the industry’s widest range
of Lab IR accessories for solid, liquid and gas samples. Our fully integrated sampling solutions work at temperatures from -190°C to 800°C, at pressures from vacuum to 6000psi and under corrosive conditions that leave other manufacturers bewildered.

Our newsletter is here to keep you up to date with all the latest developments from our active development and manufacturing teams.

Following on from our last newsletter we have now launched the Silver Gate Evolution, a single reflection ATR. It is now even more versatile with a new inter-changeable top plate.

The Silver Gate Evolution is compatible with all commercially available spectrometers and is a user configurable product with a range of interchangeable crystal plates available from less than £400.

The launch of the Silver Gate Evolution and the Economy Polarizer, are just the start of our new product development process. We have a range of new products in the pipeline, so watch out for new products coming out across our whole range.

Specac has a long history of manufacturing polarizers of the highest quality for wide ranging applications, suitable for most needs. We offer 4 different holographic wire grid polarizer options: the Image Quality High Extinction Ratio Polarizer (IQ-HER), High Extinction Ratio Polarizer (HER), Standard Polarizer and the new Economy Polarizer.

Holographic polarizers are much more efficient than ruled gratings because of the much shorter periods and extreme uniformity across the surface of the substrate - light scatter associated with gratings is eliminated.

Specac manufactures these polarizers with sub micron grid spacing using a technique originally developed in conjunction with the United Kingdom National Physics Laboratory (NPL). Suitable infrared transmitting substrates are coated with a photo-resist and then exposed to an interferometrically generated fringe pattern from monochromatic light. The developed photo resist, which has a regular sinusoidal profile, is then coated at an oblique angle with aluminium, or gold, to create an array of fine parallel lines at a set period.

Chemplex Industries, Inc. original policy has remained unswerving in serving the x-ray spectrochemical analyst and the sample preparation scientific discipline: innovation, quality, and technical support, prompt and courteous service.

Chemplex are committed to the research, development and manufacture of the most comprehensive line of sample preparation products to internationally serve all x-ray spectrochemical laboratories engaged in all sample material investigations.

It is not by chance that the leading worldwide x-ray instrumentation manufacturers and analysts use and recommend Chemplex products. We are proud of our earned reputation and the originality and quality of our product line. It is by dedication, experience and knowledge in the x-ray spectrochemical sample preparation field that we continue into this new millennium challenged by exploring new applications, methodologies and maintaining pace with emerging technologies.

Chemplex offer a wide range of X-Ray spectrochemical sample preparation equipment and accessories, from XRF Cups and accessories to grinding and blending equipment.

Specac are the authorized representative's for Chemplex Industries in the UK. Please contact us for more details.

We have undertaken a review of our processes and are pleased to announce that we are now able offer the Golden Gate range from just £4,950. We are sure this will help you in these uncertain times to get the best results for the best price.

The Golden Gate is the world's most versatile Infrared sampling system. It analyzes all sample types from hard solids to corrosive liquids and is fast, sensitive and robust.

Specac work closely with our official distributor in Japan, Systems Engineering and once again they put on an excellent display of Specac products at the JAIMA show held on the 2nd - 4th September in Tokyo. This annual show has always been well attended and with economic recovery now taking place in Japan, it was well attended again this year.

From the new range of polarizers, through our well established units such as the Variable Temperature Cell and the Golden Gate, this was a chance for the new Silver Gate Evolution ATR unit to be shown in public. Many questions were asked of it and the ability for the user to change the crystal via user interchangeable plates is seen as a clear advantage by those who visited to discuss the Silver Gate Evolution.

BCEIA 2009, Beijing, 25 -28 November 2009 - Booth 9012 (with GAMBICA)

The Beijing Conference and Exhibition on Instrumental Analysis (BCEIA), sponsored by the China Association for Instrumental Analysis, and supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, PRC has been a biennial professional international event in this field in China, enjoying the similar international status in China just as that of the Pittsburgh Conference and Exposition on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (Pittcon) in the United States.

Specac will be attending BCEIA, and you can come and see us on the GAMBICA stand.

Pittcon 2010, Orlando, 1 - 4 March 2010 - Booth 1221

Pittcon will soon be upon us once more and we will be in attendance in Orlando, Florida.
We will have all of our latest innovations and a wide range of our products on display for you to see. We will also have our sales team and technical experts there for you to come and have a chat to. We hope to see you there on stand (1221).

Our technical experts are always willing to help our customers with their technical queries and issues. The team can be contacted via the "Technical Support" section of our website or by email: TechSupport@specac.co.uk

Coming in the new year will be our new catalogue, we are producing an in-depth A4 product guide for those of you who want more detailed information on all our products.
